Valentine’s Day fun for the whole family
Valentine’s Day has typically been reserved for loved-up couples, but there’s no reason you can’t get your whole family in on the love come February 14.
Lunchbox love notes
Lunchbox notes are the sweetest addition to the lunchbox. While you could go out and buy some (we love these from Sticketies), we’d recommend getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit and write something from the heart. It doesn’t need to be special – a bit of paper and some loving words (even a cute joke or pun from Google) will make them smile.
And don’t forget that old-faithful trick of using a toothpick or skewer to write a message on the skin of their banana. By lunchtime, your toothpick writing will have darkened to almost black, to become a solid dedication of your love for them. So cute.
Bake with heart
Or rather, bake something heart shaped. This year, we’re going for sugar cookies. These red velvet ones by Baking a Moment taste just as lovely as they look, and you could even customise them by adding special messages in the icing. Make them here.
Pink pancakes
Pancakes brighten up any school morning, but pink pancakes will make your family’s Valentine’s Day really memorable. Make up your pancake mix the night before if you’re going to be short on time in the morning or get up early with your little helpers and whip up the ultimate Valentine’s Day brekkie. Make them here.
Show love to your teacher
We love our children’s teachers every day of the year, but Valentine’s Day provides another opportunity to show it. Don’t wait until the end of the school year to show them your gratitude – these heart-warming jars are the perfect way to spread some teacher gratitude on Valentine’s Day. Make them here.
Enjoy date night with the whole family
With Valentine’s Day falling on a Friday this year, it provides the perfect opportunity to make a night of this annual celebration. Whether your idea of the perfect family date night is heading out on the town for a delicious dinner and ice cream or staying in with some animated kids’ movies and junk food, use Valentine’s Day as an excuse to treat yourself and your family to a memorable evening.
What is your favourite way to celebrate the day of love and show your little ones how special they are to you?
